Gold at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games

Woodholme Construction Services have a long history of providing first class macadam bases for some of the world’s top athletics tracks. Following success at the recent Olympic Games track we are now extremely proud to have installed the macadam base for the up and coming Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Our parent company, Malcolm Construction, are not only an official provider to Glasgow 2014 but are responsible for the complete construction works at the Hampden Park venue, converting the stadium into a top flight venue for the games. It was therefore only fitting that Woodholme Construction Services played their part providing a top quality, level and uniform macadam surface for the synthetic track to be installed on.

The entire track and infield are elevated over 1.5m above ground level, supported on a specially designed aluminium staging system which supports the full weight of the facility, as well as the construction plant required for the build process.

Clearly, on projects such as these there can be no slippage in the programme and Malcolm Construction have been a key player in driving the scheme forward from conception to completion. We at Woodholmes are delighted to have played our part and successfully delivered on programme.
